When my niece was born my husband upgraded my digital camera as a surprise. He knew that taking photos of her would be my newest obsession. He was correct. I learned so much from that camera. Less than 2 years later, I again upgraded, but this time to the Nikon D 3100 DLSR. I thought I was rolling with the big dogs then!
I had watched so many friends get their DSLR’s and start taking these amazing pictures. Breathtaking and awe-inspiring photos. I didn’t get those same pics. Sure, every now and again, most likely by accident, I got the perfect shot. I read the manual from cover to cover. I learned what all the buttons on the camera were for, but how to use them correctly to get those breathtaking and awe-inspiring photos for myself just wasn’t happening.
Fed up and ready to give up taking photos altogether, I came across an online photography course that, for lack of a better word, just caught my eye – Your Camera & Your Life: A Beginner’s Photography Workshop by Andrea Katolin. After more time than I’d like to admit of just fooling around and feeling frustrated I decided that it was time for me to get serious about photography. It was (still is) something I am very passionate about and I was tired of wasting my time taking pictures that I just did not love.
So, I signed up for Andrea’s class. And the rest is history. If you’re an aspiring photographer who is eager to get those amazing shots than this workshop is for you. If you put your heart into it like I did, I promise you won’t be disappointed in the outcome.
Andrea sends weekly lessons straight to your email inbox. You can work on them at your own pace. I even saved all of them so that I am able to go back and review them when I need a quick reminder on how to get THE shot!
You’ll be added to a Facebook group to share your work with fellow “classmates.” There you will get tons of encouragement and are able to ask questions. I loved being part of the Facebook group. I appreciated meeting others with the same passion that were beginners just like me. Now, I am part of her alumni group!
Andrea will give you homework assignments and give you honest feedback on your photos. I don’t think this lady has a mean bone in her body so even when she had to criticize a bit, it was always positive. She always let me know what I could do to resolve the problem.
There’s even BONUS lessons and videos. What’s not to love about bonuses!
Here’s my work.
These were taken just a couple of week ago. I’m lucky to now have three cuties to chase around to get some amazing pics of our crazy life!
